Rabbanit Alissa Thomas-Newborn, BCC is the rabbanit at Netivot Shalom.
She also serves as a chaplain at NewYork-Presbyterian Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. She has specialties in Palliative Care, Critical Care, Pediatric Care, and Emergency Psychiatric Care. She is the immediate past president of NAJC (Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains). Rabbanit Alissa is the author of the halachic and pastoral book, "Shabbat Guidebook for Parents: Halacha of Caring for Infants, Toddlers, and Young Children on Shabbat and Yom Tov". From 2014 to 2022, Rabbanit Alissa served as the rabbanit at B'nai David-Judea Congregation in Los Angeles. A writer and speaker, she is a graduate of Yeshivat Maharat and Brandeis University. She and her husband, Akiva, live in Teaneck with their children, Ella and Liam, and their bichon frise, Judy.
