Shearit Haplate Post-Purim Collection of Mishloach Manot
Shearit Haplate of Bergen County is once again coordinating a community-wide post-Purim collection of leftover mishloach manot food, to be distributed to people in need. Beginning Sunday, March 12 until Friday, March 24, food can be dropped off directly inside the PODS located at 1212 Kensington Road in Teaneck. Food must be in its original packaging, with kosher certification visible. Please do not leave items such as fresh fruit, loose hamentaschen, baked goods, candy no longer in the original package, or foods requiring refrigeration. Keylim Mikvah Awareness Month
Every family in Teaneck, Bergenfield and New Milford benefits from the keylim mikvah all year round, but especially during the busy month before Pesach. Please help us recognize its importance by financially supporting the mikvah during KEYLIM MIKVAH AWARENESS MONTH. Funds collected will be used exclusively for the daily operational expenses of the mikvah including insurance costs, supplies, repairs, and equipment. "Keys to Support" Disability Conference
On Sunday, March 26th, the entire community is invited to the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, 411 E. Clinton Avenue, Tenafly NJ 07670, to attend a conference entitled “Keys to Support”. This important gathering will provide valuable information about critical issues including accessibility to services, impending fee for service transition, support coordination, school to adult transition and housing opportunities. A highlight of the conference will be the screening of the critically-acclaimed film, “My Hero Brother,” which tells the story of a group of remarkable young people with Down syndrome who embark on a demanding trip through the Indian Himalayas, accompanied by their "normal" brothers and sisters.
The conference is being organized by the Jewish Association for Developmental Disabilities (J-ADD), JCCOTP, Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey, Jewish Family Service of Clifton-Passaic, Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Northern New Jersey, and Sinai, with many additional local community organizations participating. Registration begins at 8:30 AM and the program runs from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. Registration for the conference is preferred, free, and open to the public. To register, please contact events@j-add.org
