Library

  • The Teaneck Public Library has a large collection of materials and runs cultural programs for all ages. It also lends and rents DVDs and has an extensive collection of US and foreign (including many Israeli) films. The library has an section with many materials about local history and official town documents as well.
  • Cardholders also have access to the entire Bergen County public library system, so materials that are available in other branches can also be borrowed, either by visiting other branches or placing a request for inter-library loan (for 25¢). The Library website also provides access to many on-line databases, foreign language instruction and other services.

  • Teaneck has several commercial areas, the largest is Cedar Lane, between the railroad and River Road. Other shops are located along Teaneck Road and Queen Anne Road. Teaneck Road becomes Washington Street in nearby Bergenfield, and is a major commercial corridor.
  • Route 4 in Hackensack and Paramus, Route 17 in Paramus, Main Street and River Road in Hackensack are the major commercial corridors, with mom and pop shops, chain stores and several large indoor and outdoor malls.
  • Shoppers should take note that Bergen County requires that most stores close on Sundays. The rules vary from town to town with Paramus being the strictest, while Bergenfield, Fort Lee and Teaneck allow some stores (such as hardware and office supplies) to open. North Bergen (just outside of Bergen County), Elizabeth and Rockland County are each about 25-45 minutes away and have malls and stores open 7 days a week.
