If you are in the building on a weekday, please make sure not to touch the bar on the front door unless you are authorized to do so. Also, please make sure all lights are turned off before you leave.
Parsha Chabura this Friday Night
Come one, come all to a parsha chabura hosted by Noam and Nomi Schneck on February 22nd at 435 Claremont Avenue, beginning at 8:30pm.
The chabura will be a collective learning experience...and there will be snacks! Hope to see you there!
General Membership Meeting
As a reminder, please join Rabbi Helfgot and the Board for a General Membership Meeting on Sunday, February 24th at 8:00pm. (Please note earlier time.)
This meeting will provide an opportunity for all of us as a community to learn about the RCBC and its recent bylaws change. In advance of the meeting, Rabbi Helfgot will be sharing several sources related to some of the discussion topics. The meeting will provide an opportunity for the Rabbi, the Board and the membership to listen to the various perspectives of the members of the community.
Please note that this meeting will be for Netivot Shalom members only (including associate members.) We hope to see you there.
Nominating Committee
There will be a general board meeting and election of board members in June. Nominations are open for the following board positions: President, VP Operations,VP Programming and two general board positions. If you are interested in serving on the board or wish to nominate someone, please contact any member of the Nominations Committee by April 30: Pam Scheininger, Katie Katz and Barry Herzog.
Dr. Malka Z. Simkovich - Scholar in Residence March 16th
Dr. Malka Z. Simkovich will be joining Netivot Shalom as Scholar in Residence on Shabbat, March 16th. Among her accomplishments, Dr. Simkovich is the Crown-Ryan Chair of Jewish Studies and director of the Catholic-Jewish Studies program at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, as well as a Core Faculty member of Drisha Institute.
She will be speaking on the following topics:
1. Pre-musaf Dvar Torah - The Emerging Interest of Orthodox Leadership in Jewish-Christian Dialogue 2. Following kiddush - Messianism and the Apocalypse: What Did Jews Write About After The Babylonian Exile? 3. Between mincha and maariv - Sectarian Judaism and Common Judaism: What Made You a Jew in Second Temple Times? The program is being sponsored by the Abraham and Sheila Schlussel Adult Education Institute.
