VP Operations - Joshua Lipowsky
VP Programming - Serena Jenkelowitz

Board Member - Robin Straus

Thank you to the Nominating Committee - Margaret Herzog, Avi Muller and Amy Zwas - for all their work.

Thank you as well to everyone who will be taking on a new leadership role. There are many other opportunities to get involved beside the Board. If you are interested in deepening your engagement with Netivot Shalom, see below for suggestions of how to get involved.

The following people will continue on the Board:

Treasurer: David Eiselt
Secretary: Ezra Katz
Board Members: Avi Muller & Tammy Rapps
Immediate Past President (non-voting position): Debra Passner

Voting
We will vote at the Community Meeting on May 7 at 7 PM.

Proxy Voting
If you can not make the meeting, you may vote by proxy. To vote by proxy, print out this form, sign it, and give it to a member who will be at the meeting.

Bylaws Amendment
Because this is the first time we are having co-presidents, we need to also vote on a change to the by laws. Article 5.2 currently says:

The Board of Directors of Netivot Shalom shall consist of nine (9) members in good standing, and shall include five officers, namely the President, the Vice-President of Operations, the Vice-President of Programming, the Treasurer and the Secretary.

We are proposing to amend this to read:
The Board of Directors of Netivot Shalom shall consist of nine (9) members in good standing except when an officer position is shared by two individuals, in which case both individuals holding the office shall be eligible to vote on all matters before the Board. Officers of the Board shall include the President, the Vice-President of Operations, the Vice-President of Programming, the Treasurer and the Secretary.

Voting Eligibility
All Netivot Shalom members in good standing are eligible to vote. Not sure if you are in good standing? Check if you owe dues here. If you currently dues for any years prior to 2022/23, your account is in arrears and must be brought up to date for you to vote. If you would like to make a payment plan or discuss reducing your financial commitment, please contact president@netivotshalomnj.org or treasurer@netivotshalomnj.org for a confidential conversation.

Many Ways to Get Involved

1. Reach out to one of the committee chairs listed below to discuss what they are currently working on and how you can help or share your ideas for new programs or initiatives.

Chesed: Sarah Dauber
Education: Mark Druck and Chana Shefa
Gabbaim: Maurice Appelbaum
Social: Rachel Cohen
Membership: Meg Rosenberg and Nadiv Schorer Meiri
Security: Josie Altzman & Josh Lipowsky
Women's Torah & Megillah Reading: Tammy Jacobowitz and Jessica Langer
Youth: Kyra Bernstein

As a general rule, most of our committees have no more than a couple of meetings per year, so you don't have to worry that your time will be taken up with meetings rather than doing. Contact for all committee chairs can be found in the Membership Directory.

2. Have an idea for a program or initiative that doesn't seem to fit within any of the committees or just not sure which one is the right one? Contact Rebeccah Appelbaum or Debra Passner at to discuss. Many of our recent programs have been initiated in this way including the Meditation Circle, Kumsitz, Men's Tisch, the Women's Tu b'Shvat Seder and Chanukah programs, and our new Merch Store. We are streamlining our processes to make it even easier for you to launch new programs and initiatives. So, don't hesitate to reach out when you have an idea!

3. Want to get involved in ongoing initiatives such as CSS, volunteering for kiddush clean up, or helping with shul finance or communications, but not sure who to contact. Speak to Debra Passner, Rebeccah Appelbaum, or Jonathan Dauber.

Contact information for all committee chairs and Board members can be found in the print or online Membership Director available here.
